“Seeing the smiles, laughter and encouragement they shared with each other made it a truly special day. Everyone had a great time” – young bowlers strike up new friendships during a trip to Cambridge Leisure Park

Smiles and strikes were the order of the day as teenage boys receiving care from East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) enjoyed a lively morning of tenpin bowling at Cambridge Leisure Park.

The special activity day was filled with friendly competition, impressive bowling and plenty of encouragement.

One of the boys set himself the challenge of scoring a strike in honour of his dog – and was delighted to achieve it, adding to the celebrations.

“It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves and supporting one another throughout the morning,” said Senior Care Assistant and Young Person Lead Sandra Holmes.

“Days like these give young people the chance to spend time with friends, build confidence and simply have fun in a relaxed environment.

“Seeing the smiles, laughter and encouragement they shared with each other made it a truly special day. Everyone had a great time.”

The group also welcomed two visiting teenagers from Sunflowers Care – a specialised, nurse-led residential home providing care for children and young people up to the age of 18.

After the bowling, the boys rounded off the outing with lunch together, enjoying burgers, chips and milkshakes.

EACH organises a regular programme of activities, giving young people the opportunity to socialise, build friendships and create lasting memories.

Earlier this year, teenage boys enjoyed an activity day at Milton, taking part in a bunny hunt, feeding goats and sheep and meeting animals from a visiting petting farm. It followed a similar event for teenage girls held in March.
