Teenage boys enjoyed a fun-filled day together, taking part in activities designed to encourage friendship, independence and fun.
The special Young People’s (YP) Day was organised by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) and took place at Milton.
It was for teenage boys receiving care at the hospice and followed hot on the heels of a similar event specifically for girls, held in March.
Highlights included taking part in a bunny hunt, in addition to feeding goats and sheep while meeting furry friends from a petting farm.
The group also welcomed two visiting teenagers from Sunflowers Care – a specialised, nurse-led residential home providing care for children and young people up to the age of 18.
Together, they tackled an Easter egg trail set within the sensory garden, joining forces to solve clues. Their teamwork paid off, successfully completing the challenge and earning chocolate egg rewards.
The day finished with an energetic music session, where each of the boys chose their favourite artists, creating a playlist that ranged from ABBA and Ed Sheeran to Bruno Mars and Michael Jackson.
The session was filled with singing and dancing, with one of the boys impressing everyone with his enthusiasm and knowledge of the songs.
“Days like this are so important for the young people we support,” said Senior Care Assistant and Young Person Lead Sandra Holmes.
“They were a great bunch, and we had so much fun together. It’s wonderful to see them building friendships, gaining confidence and simply enjoying being teenagers together.
“The boys formed strong connections throughout the day, with many already looking forward to doing more together.
“The laughter, teamwork and shared experiences make these sessions truly special for everyone involved.”
The day had started with a sunny walk to Tesco, where the boys chose their favourite snacks ahead of a relaxed afternoon together.
For lunch, the group opted for a takeaway, with McDonald’s proving a popular choice – particularly for the bonus of Happy Meal toys.
