“ECHO! proved a hit, getting lots of attention and joining members of our team as they walked around selling raffle tickets to raise extra funds” – Specsavers celebrates its refit by hosting a funday for EACH

Shoppers met a special guest and learnt about the work of a leading children’s hospice while visiting a new-look opticians.

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) sent its mascot, ECHO!, to the reopening of Ipswich’s Specsavers store, at Eastgate Shopping Centre, in Carr Street.

The shop has just had a mini-refit and staff wanted to celebrate with a funday, at the same time raising awareness for EACH. They also managed to raise over £200.

“It’s a charity we’ve supported in the past and we were delighted to do something similar again,” said Abby Wiles, a store manager at the Specsavers branch.

“As well as meeting ECHO!, we were also pleased to welcome John Skoyles, a brilliant volunteer who was on hand to tell us about the work of EACH.

“He was a real star and all our staff enjoyed finding out more.

“ECHO! also proved a hit, getting lots of attention and joining members of our team as they walked around selling raffle tickets to raise extra funds.

“It was a brilliant day and the atmosphere was lovely from start to finish.”

EACH has three hospices, including The Treehouse, in Ipswich.

Mascot EACH! is used to describe its work to children. The letters stand for ‘Everyone in the family is included’, ‘Care for children who are poorly’, ‘Home or hospice, wherever we’re needed’ and ‘Outstanding care and support when families need it most’.

The Specsavers funday took place on Saturday, 25th May.
