“Everyone is getting in the community spirit, using their imagination to depict and celebrate a children’s film they and their family love” – movie-themed village trail is being organised to raise funds for EACH

Lights, camera, action!

A movie-themed garden trail is being organised to raise funds for charity.

The event is taking place in Holbrook on the weekend of 8th and 9th June.

All proceeds will go to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), which has a base at The Treehouse, in Ipswich.

There will be a dozen displays in the front of people’s houses and this year’s theme is children’s films.

Visitors can buy a programme, complete with map, at Holbrook Village Hall.

Joy Squirrell, one of the organisers, said: “We’re hoping this year’s event proves just as popular as our previous trails, when themes have included scarecrows, safari and children’s books.

“They’re such fun and people are always positive and enthusiastic afterwards.

“They brighten up our village, creating a happy feeling, and everyone is getting in the community spirit once again, using their imagination to depict and celebrate a film they and their family love.

“We wanted to do it for a children’s charity and that’s why we decided to raise money for EACH.

“It’s a wonderful cause that does so much work in our area to support families and care for children and young people.”

This year’s trail will run in tandem with the return of an open gardens event in Holbrook, raising funds for St Elizabeth Hospice.

Ten gardens of all shapes and sizes will be open for the public to visit and enjoy.

Highlights will include a model train display in one of the gardens, while visitors for both the film trail and open gardens will be able to enjoy refreshments at Holbrook Pre-School, All Saints Church and the Methodist Chapel.

Programmes can also be bought at participating gardens and parking is available at Holbrook Village Hall.

Cash donations are welcome and visitors can also make a contribution using a QR code in the programme, opting to donate to either EACH or St Elizabeth Hospice.

EACH Senior Community Fundraiser Anna Bruce said: “It’s a brilliant idea for a fundraiser and definitely something a bit different.

“I can imagine it takes a lot of organisation to pull something like this together, so massive thanks to everyone for their hard work.

“We look forward to seeing the pictures and hearing all about it.”
