Volunteer trustees have been thanked for their ‘leadership, insight and commitment’ to mark the start of an important national awareness week.
Trustees’ Week begins today and runs until Saturday, celebrating the achievements of nearly one million people who take on the role for charities across the UK.
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) is among the organisations to benefit and be governed by a strong, dedicated board of professionals.
“We’re fortunate and deeply grateful to have a fantastic Board of Trustees,” said EACH Chief Executive Kevin Clements.
“Between them, they have extensive clinical, commercial, financial and business expertise, as well as lived family experience.
“In the last year, they’ve once again been highly active in supporting fundraising events, attending internal and external meetings and spending time with employees.
“They’re passionate about what we do, and, as volunteers, they give their time, energy and expertise to help guide our organisation, ensuring every decision is in the very best interests of the children and families receiving our care and support.
“The leadership, insight and commitment they provide is truly invaluable, and this special week is a perfect opportunity to acknowledge their immense contribution.”
Drawn from a variety of backgrounds, the trustees meet regularly and are responsible for driving the charity forward.
They set its strategic direction, and there are four committees – clinical governance, finance and income generation, audit, risk and compliance and human resources.
EACH’s Board of Trustees is headed by Chair Brad McLean, working alongside Emma Deterding, Mark Dyke, Iain Jamie, Anna Lipp, Ann Marie Lloyd-Jones, Nicky Richardson, Shaun Savory, Chris Schwer, Caroline Steggles and Henry Wright.
In addition, nurse Joanna Venskunas was appointed in May, with Alex Ferguson, an experienced senior executive and member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, joining at the start of September.
