“It was lovely to see people spending time together, exploring our beautiful grounds and learning more about the support we provide” – visitors enjoy attractions and activities during EACH’s summer open garden day at Milton

Families helped raise more than £1,500 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) by attending a fun-filled summer open garden day at Milton.

More than 100 visitors enjoyed a range of attractions, including games, a children’s trail, an impressive plant stall, craft activities, a raffle and refreshments. Other highlights included delicious pizzas made by Authentic Neapolitan, meeting George the shire horse, exploring motorbikes brought along by Blue Knights England X and enjoying a performance by the Milton Primary School choir.

“We raised more than £1,500 on the day and, on average, nearly £15 per person who attended, which is fantastic,” said EACH Senior Community Fundraiser Victoria Goldsmith. “It was a wonderful day, and we’re so grateful to everyone who came along and helped make it such a special occasion. It felt like everyone who attended had a great time, and it was lovely to see people spending time together, exploring our beautiful grounds and learning more about the support we provide.

“One of my favourite moments was watching a family invent their own game, which was a bit like cricket but with the added challenge of getting the ball through a hula hoop at the end. It perfectly summed up the fun, relaxed atmosphere we wanted to create. There was something for everyone, and the feedback we’ve received has been incredibly positive. We’re so grateful to everyone who visited and contributed to the fundraising total, as well as the volunteers who gave up their time to support us.”

EACH also received valuable support from local businesses ahead of and during the event, which took place on Saturday, 20th June.

Cambridge Cognition helped with logistics in the build-up, while MM Flowers sponsored the day and provided some eye-catching raffle prizes.

“We’re hugely grateful to both companies for their generous support,” said Senior Corporate Fundraiser Erin Henry. “The support of local businesses plays such an important role in helping us deliver events like this and raise vital funds for the families who rely on our services. We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to both organisations for helping make the day such a success.”
