Kind-hearted motorcycle enthusiasts revved into action and organised a fundraising show in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
The event took place at The Cottenham Club, just outside Cambridge, and featured stalls and live music. It was enjoyed by more than 250 people and raised £1,000.
The total was topped up by a head shave, with Adam Floate, one of the organisers, helping raise extra funds after having his shoulder-length hair cut by ten-year-old son Jayden.
“I said whoever donated the most could shave my head,” said Adam.
“One chap gave £200 but kindly handed the clippers to Jayden.
“It was good fun, and I’m so pleased the day was such a success.
“We started in the afternoon and then went through to nearly midnight, kicking off with a motorcycle show that included voting in various categories like ‘best in show’, ‘best engineering’ and ‘best paintwork’.
“Everyone then enjoyed an evening of live music and dancing, which was great fun.”
Entry was free so every penny raised came via donations on the night.
It was the second year Panthera Motorcycle Club – of which Adam is a member – have organised the event, last year supporting the charity Bikers Against Child Abuse.
“This time we were delighted to raise funds for EACH,” said Adam.
“It’s a fantastic charity and one we’re proud to support.”
The club’s members meet at The Cottenham Club every Thursday evening, and their show took place on 30th August.
Adam and some of his fellow organisers recently presented a cheque to EACH Senior Community Fundraiser Victoria Goldsmith (pictured second from the right) during a visit to Milton.
