Kind-hearted freemasons hosted a successful ladies’ night and raised £1,265 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
The event was organised by St Osyth’s Priory Lodge and took place at the village Priory.
Members, their wives and guests came along for an evening of dining, live music and fundraising, and the total raised was through a raffle held during the evening.
The event was hosted by Worshipful Master David Chapman, as a way of thanking his wife, Carol, and others who supported him throughout his year in office. Carol selected EACH as the evening’s chosen charity.
As well as raising vital funds, the gathering provided an opportunity for members and guests to socialise, strengthen friendships and welcome new members.
Lloyd Sargent, Charity Steward of St Osyth’s Priory Lodge, said: “It was a fantastic evening for a wonderful cause.
“We’re a fraternity of men with the same outlook on life, including a desire to help people and support charities.
“Freemasonry is about giving something back and being a good mason makes you a better man.
“That’s our belief and that’s why it was such a pleasure to support EACH.
“What this charity provides is wonderful. It’s a place where families get to create special memories and what could be more precious than that?
“I was so pleased to have an opportunity to visit The Treehouse recently, along with David. It’s a bright, comfortable environment and a place full of hope. I found it emotional, but it’s an experience that will stay with me.
“The amount raised speaks volumes about the way people feel about this great charity.”
St Osyth’s Priory Lodge meet seven times each year and regularly support a range of charitable causes, typically selecting three or four charities annually to benefit from its fundraising efforts.
Following the success of this year’s event, further ladies’ nights are planned in the future.
