Families came together for a special musical celebration themed around the Lunar New Year.
The afterschool session was for children and families receiving care and support from East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) at The Treehouse.
It was one of EACH’s regular band practice nights – interactive sessions featuring sensory-adapted songs and content – and the musical extravaganza included ‘Firework’ by Katy Perry and ‘Yellow’ by Coldplay.
There was also an array of mouthwatering food, including a stunning moon-shaped cake, before families dived into the musical experience.
The session was led by Music Therapist Ray Travasso, and seven families came along to EACH’s Ipswich base.
Ray said: “It was a great evening and lovely to see so many families.
“The winter months can be very isolating for families, so it was a lovely opportunity for them to come together through music.”
Other highlights included the special entrance of a dragon puppet, to the tune of ‘Puff the Magic Dragon’, and a magical improvisation with bells and windchimes.
Ray was joined by a group of talented young musicians from the community, who helped bring the session to life. The guests included a harpist, cellist, flutist and guitarist.
EACH hosts monthly band practice evenings, and each session revolves around a unique theme, carefully tailored to cater to the needs of children and young people.
The inclusive nature of the event ensures all service users, siblings and their families can enjoy the fun together.
Another Scottish-themed session is due to take place later this month and will be centred around Burns Nights.
