A popular charity shop in Stowmarket is appealing for more quality donations to help it continue raising vital funds for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
Staff and volunteers are looking for ladies’ and men’s summer clothing, handbags, shoes, bric-a-brac, paperback fiction and children’s toys and books.
Donated items are sold in the shop to help fund EACH’s specialist care and support for children and families across East Anglia.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the kindness, generosity and continued support we receive from our community,” said shop manager Mandi Higgins.
“However, we’re always in need of more quality donations to help keep our shop stocked with a fantastic range of items.
“Donating unwanted items is a wonderful way to give them a new lease of life, while also supporting a more sustainable approach to shopping by reducing waste and encouraging reuse.
“Whether it’s a bag of clothes, a much-loved book, a pair of shoes or a toy, every donation can make a real difference.
“It helps raise vital funds while also giving someone in the community the opportunity to find something they love at an affordable price.
“Every good-quality donation we receive is greatly appreciated and helps us continue making a difference to local children and families.”
EACH’s Stowmarket shop recently celebrated its first birthday, with customers and supporters joining staff and volunteers to mark the occasion.
The milestone also coincided with the culmination of a special fundraiser involving LEGO enthusiast Paul Burrell.
Paul spent around eight hours carefully building a spectacular steamship model using 4,090 colourful bricks across 32 bags.
Inspired by a steamboat trip in Wroxham, the impressive creation was donated to the shop and customers had the chance to win it by purchasing £1 tickets.
The winner was selected in the draw, with the model – which measures approximately 40cm high, 15cm wide and 69cm long – raising an incredible £541.
“Our shop relies on the wonderful donations, fundraising efforts and encouragement from local people, and every single contribution makes a meaningful difference,” added Mandi.
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported the shop over the past year, including our customers, donors, volunteers and fundraisers.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity shown and look forward to continuing to serve the local community.”
