“As well as raising funds, it promises to be a lovely community event. Everyone has gone to lots of effort and they’re keen to do their best for this incredible charity” – homeowners are opening their gardens to raise funds for EACH

Green-fingered fundraisers are opening their gardens to show support for a nearby children’s hospice.

The event, back for the first time since 2019, will feature 14 stunning gardens across Poringland, Framingham Earl and Upper Stoke Holy Cross.

Visitors can follow a trail and explore them all, with money raised going to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

EACH has three bases, including The Nook, and this event is being organised by The Nook Friends group. It will take place over the weekend of 1st and 2nd June.

“As well as raising funds, it promises to be a lovely community event,” said organiser Jane Hewer.

“The gardens are beautiful but also very different, of various shapes and sizes, so there will be lots for people to see and enjoy.

“Everyone has gone to lots of effort and they’re keen to do their best for this incredible charity.

“Hopefully we’ll be blessed with sunny weather and the public turn out in force to show their support.”

Two of the homeowners have art studios, which visitors will be able to peruse.

There will also be plant stalls, refreshments and a raffle, with prizes including hampers, wine and gift vouchers.

One of the hosts is also running a garden game, with prizes up for grabs.

The gardens will be open from 11am until 5pm on both days and the cost is £6 per adult (free for under-16s). This covers both days and cash is preferable.

Programmes will be available for purchase on the day at Poringland Village Hall, located on The Street (opposite Budgens).

For those who prefer to plan ahead, programmes can be obtained in advance by contacting janehewer@hotmail.com or calling 07740 734123.
