Footballers are lacing up their boots for the second edition of a popular charity match in Norfolk.
The 11-a-side contest, which raised nearly £1,200 last year, is taking place on 1st June and will again be in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
It is being organised by friends Grant Miles and Chris Fisher, who live in Hellesdon, and will be staged on the main 3G pitch at The Nest, in Horsford.
“We’re running the event off the back of last year’s success and would love to make it an annual thing,” said Grant.
“Last year, we raised just shy of £1,200 and are looking to do the same again. Fingers crossed.
“We wanted to do something positive to help make a difference and were pleased and proud to raise as much as we did.
“Hopefully this year will be similarly successful and we hope the funds will go some way to helping such a fantastic charity.”
There will be a fixed 32 players for the match, which equates to two full teams and five substitutes each, and the match will be officiated by a Norfolk Football Association referee.
There will also be an official photographer, to capture the fun and spirit of the day, and two managers, to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Last year they wore blue and red tops sporting the names of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and Liverpool counterpart Jurgen Klopp.
Last year’s match was enjoyed by family, friends and colleagues and watched by nearly 50 people.
It took place in glorious sunshine and it was the Blue team who emerged victorious, pipping the Reds 4-3.
As last time, this year’s event will again feature a barbecue and be followed by a trophy ceremony for the top goal-scorer and player-of-the-match.
Spectators are welcome and anyone unable to attend, but who would like to donate, can head here.
