“It’s not easy for families to go to the theatre, so for them to come here and enjoy something that’s so accessible is very special” – children and parents enjoy a sensory performance of Rumpelstiltskin

He’s behind you!

Families receiving support from East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) got in the spirit during a fun-packed sensory pantomime in Milton.

Thirty-five children ranging from babies to teenagers, including the siblings of those being cared for at the hospice, enjoyed the special performance of Rumpelstiltskin.

They had the chance to get involved, using props and trying on outfits, and the afternoon proved a huge hit.

“Everyone had a fantastic time, and there was lots of laughter,” said EACH Play Specialist Helen Thrower.

“The panto was great fun, and there was the usual mix of songs, dancing and silliness, which allowed everyone to get involved.

“It’s not easy for families to go to the theatre, so for them to come here and enjoy something that’s so accessible is very special.

“Members of our care team were on hand to offer support, and it’s also a lovely opportunity for them to socialise and share an experience together.”

The panto, performed by a group of actors from Head2Head Sensory Theatre, took place at Milton Community Centre on 7th December.

Twenty-one families came along, and they had the opportunity to be photographed together before taking their seats in the hall.

They also enjoyed snacks, and the actors used Makaton sign language to help communicate their dialogue.
