“It was another great opportunity to give dedicated time to siblings in a way that felt supportive and allowed connections to blossom naturally” – youngsters enjoy animal encounters at Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park

Siblings had the chance to feed animals and learn about climate change during a special trip organised by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The visit to Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park, in Wherstead, was for children who are either bereaved or have a brother or sister receiving care from EACH at The Treehouse, in Ipswich.

Eighteen youngsters took part, aged between four and 14.

Along the way, they saw animals ranging from farmyard favourites to crocodiles, lions and tigers.

There were feeding opportunities and the children also had a chance to let off steam on the park’s playground and bouncy pillow, as well as hear talks on polar bears and climate change.

“We had a fantastic day, and the children said how much they loved seeing the animals and being able to feed some of them,” said Kelly Evans, EACH’s Groups and Events Co-ordinator at The Treehouse.

“It was another great opportunity to give dedicated time to siblings in a way that felt supportive and allowed new friendships and connections to blossom naturally.

“We’re very thankful that local spaces and attractions continue to support our groups and events, and in this instance gave siblings time to explore, enjoy themselves and feel an all-important sense of community and understanding from staff, volunteers and their peers.”

The trip to Jimmy’s Farm took place on 27th October.
