“It’s a great way to engage with the community and hopefully welcome new customers, as well as spending time with our wonderful regulars” – youngsters can decorate tree hangings during EACH’s Christmas celebrations in Long Stratton

Young shoppers have the chance to make and decorate Christmas tree hangings during a day of festive fun in Long Stratton.

The special community event is taking place at the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) shop, in Norwich Road, on Saturday, 7th December.

Celebrations are taking place across the town, and EACH’s staff and volunteers will be getting in the spirit throughout the day, from 10am to 4pm.

A series of treats are being planned, and shoppers will have the chance to grab some last-minute stocking fillers.

Other highlights will include raffles and the chance to snap up Christmas cards, jumpers, decorations and gift ideas.

“We’re very much looking forward to a fun-packed day,” said EACH Shop Manager Rachael Fretter.

“It’s a great way to engage with the community and hopefully welcome new customers, as well as spending time with our wonderful regulars.

“We’re running two raffles, with tickets going on sale from the beginning of next month.

“One is dedicated to Paddington, to tie in with the release of the new film, and one will be to win a host of goodies, including breakfast for two at SugarBeat Eating House, in Swainsthorpe, a plant donated by Foundry Plant Centre, in Tasburgh, £10 vouchers for both Huggers, in Long Stratton, and the Co-op, a selection of Milkshake hair care products courtesy of Zig-Zag, in Long Stratton, a Lotus goodie bag courtesy of Stratton Motor Company and a hamper of goodies.”

Another highlight will be the chance to make and decorate tree hangings.

“We’re preparing special craft packs containing cardboard gingerbread men,” said Sales Assistant Sarah Mayes.

“Children can either take them home or spend time decorating them in the shop.

“I’m going to be setting up a craft table with lots of bits and pieces they can stick to the gingerbread men.”

Anyone interesting in joining the shop’s friendly volunteer team is welcome to pop in for a chat throughout the day. Alternatively, email: Rachael.Fretter@each.org.uk or ring 01508 531507.
