Staff, volunteers and customers joined forces to celebrate the first birthday of a popular East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) shop in Cambridge.
The Fitzroy Street store opened on 12th September 2024 and highlights of the one-year anniversary included stories for little ones, the chance to knit eye-catching pumpkins and entertainment from magician Harvinii Richards.
There was also a bake sale and tombola, while customers were able to try their luck by buying mystery bags.
“We marked our big day with a fun community celebration and the atmosphere was wonderful,” said shop manager Olena Kulaieva. “Our team grew even closer, the customers had a fantastic time and together we raised an extra £200 in support of EACH. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made our first birthday so special. Here’s to laughter, teamwork and many more years ahead.”
EACH has 54 shops across the region, including 11 in Cambridgeshire. There are three more in Cambridge, in Cherry Hinton Road, Histon Road and Milton Road, with other stores in Cherry Hinton, Ely, Huntingdon, March, Soham, St Ives and Whittlesey.
This year alone, EACH needs to raise £8 million from donations and fundraising activities and £9.8 million in retail income. Only 15% of its income comes from the government, county councils and the NHS.
