“The kindness of others makes such a difference, so this is my way of repaying the favour and passing it on” – visitors can grab bargains including clothes, fancy dress, toys, games and homeware at a tabletop sale in support of EACH

Clothes, fancy dress, toys, games and homeware will be among the gems up for grabs at a tabletop sale being organised to raise funds for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

Visitors will also be able to pick up personalised gifts, fragrances, hand-painted items and jewellery, while refreshments and homemade cakes will be available.

Entry is free, and the sale is taking place at Upper Dovercourt Social Club between 12pm and 5pm on 21st and 22nd February.

It is being organised by Hayley Robson, who volunteers in EACH’s shop in Main Road, Dovercourt.

“I normally raise funds by selling items at car boot sales, but this is the first major event I’ve organised,” she said.

“I’m excited and have been pleased by the response from small, local businesses, who have all paid to book a table.

“Their fee will go straight to EACH, and so far, we have 17 on the Saturday and 16 on the Sunday. They’ll be selling lots of different things, and there’s a real variety, with something for everyone.”

In addition, there will be another five stalls where every penny raised will go to EACH. Visitors will also be able to enter a teddy tombola and buy raffle tickets, while there will also be a pets stand with free treats for dogs.

“EACH is a charity I feel passionately about,” added Hayley, who is hoping to raise £500 and said she was grateful for the support of Upper Dovercourt Social Club.

“What better cause than one that supports vulnerable children with complex health conditions?

“My own daughter has been poorly in recent times, including having open-heart surgery twice in the last couple of years.

“The kindness of others makes such a difference in that situation, so this is my way of repaying the favour and passing it on.

“I also love spending time in the shop and find it such a friendly, welcoming environment.”

Dovercourt shop manager Kathryn Newell says she is always on the lookout for new volunteers willing to join her team. To find out more, pop in for a chat, email Kathryn.Newell@each.org.uk or call 01255 442707.
