“I was so moved by what I saw at The Treehouse. It was very humbling, which motivated me to do something to help” – Vicky is organising her second charity ball to raise funds for EACH

Eye-catching prizes including a week-long holiday in Cape Verde and a stay in a top London hotel will be up for a grabs when ball-goers get glammed up to raise vital funds for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The glitzy black tie ball is being held at Stoke By Nayland Golf Club on Saturday, 12th October.

Vicky Hicks is organising the eagerly-awaited event after hosting something similar in October 2021. It had been due to take place the previous year but was postponed because of Covid.

Nearly £17,000 was raised for EACH and more than 200 people had a night to remember at the Five Lakes Resort, near Colchester.

Now Vicky is hoping for similar success this time around and more than 100 tickets have been snapped up already. More are available, either for small groups or tables of ten.

“It’s a lot of work but I know it’ll be worth it,” said Vicky, who lives in Eight Ash Green, near Colchester.

“If the last one is anything to go by, we’ll have a brilliant night.

“Everyone had a lovely time and, in a way, having to postpone things the previous year made it extra special because it was the first time people had had the chance to get glammed up and wear special clothes.

“Everyone was in high spirits and I was pleased to raise the amount we did.

“My target had been £10,000, so I was thrilled to see the total creep past £15,000.

“Hopefully, fingers crossed, we can get close to that amount again.”

Vicky, who has two daughters, says she was motivated to help EACH after attending an open day at The Treehouse, in Ipswich, in 2019.

“I was so moved by what I saw and it was very humbling, which motivated me to do something to help,” said the 35-year-old.

“That’s when the first ball became my vision and because of the way it went, I felt inspired to try and organise another.

“Everyone is welcome, including couples and smaller parties. Or I have some tables of ten if groups want to club together.”

Tickets cost £75 per person, with two-thirds of the proceeds going to EACH and the remainder to charity Kids Inspire.

The price includes a three-course meal and live music and there will also be a raffle and silent auction.

In addition to the Cape Verde holiday, other top prizes include a diamond necklace, a one-night stay at Stoke by Nayland Golf Club, tickets for Jimmy’s Farm, a family photoshoot voucher, a gin distillery tour, afternoon tea for two, weekend glamping stays, a teepee sleepover package and a signed Ipswich Town shirt.
