Kind-hearted partygoers danced the night away at a glitzy fundraising ball.
The event was organised by Pymoor Stockmans Club, in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
It took place at The Lady Chapel of Ely Cathedral, and a cheque for £5,000 was recently presented to EACH Senior Community Fundraiser Victoria Goldsmith.
The ball started with a drinks reception and canapes under the prestigious Octagon, with music provided by a string quartet from King’s Ely.
Guests were then invited into The Lady Chapel for a gourmet meal, followed by speeches, a raffle and live music from Captain Scarlet.
Bereaved parents Lisa and David Radcliffe were guest speakers on the night, sharing the story of their son, George, who was three years old when he was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, in May 2022.
He died in October 2023, and both George and his family received care and support from EACH at Milton.
“As a small, local stockman’s club, we’re extremely proud of our fundraising success, raising £5,000 to directly support the vital work of EACH,” said organiser Keri Whitwell.
“This tops any of our previous events, and, although it was incredibly hard work, it paid off to see so many people enjoying themselves for a worthy cause.
“Lisa and David gave a very touching speech, highlighting the work EACH does for both bereaved and non-bereaved families, while also sharing their own experience and paying tribute to George.”
Pymoor Stockmans Club is a friendly, non-profit organisation promoting good stockmanship. It organises charity balls every two years to raise funds for good causes in the area.
“Overall, it was an amazing night, and 200 people tucked into a delicious gourmet meal, served by Holland Hospitality,” added Keri.
“I must also mention the stunning floral displays, which complimented the beautiful character of the cathedral, courtesy of the Wild Clover Flower Company.”
