“The families had a great time, and it was a unique opportunity for them to connect through music, stories, magic and general silliness” – the Clown Doctors put smiles on faces during a visit to The Nook

Families enjoyed a healthy dose of fun and laughter after spending time with two talented therapeutic clowns.

Suffolk Artlink’s Clown Doctors met children and parents during a visit to The Nook – East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices’ (EACH) base at Framingham Earl.

They meet young people in hospitals and hospices and engage them in clowning, storytelling, music, magic, circus skills and improvisation.

“It was a very joyful afternoon, full of fun, noise and frolics,” said Clare Oakley, EACH’s Groups and Events Co-ordinator at The Nook.

“The families had a great time, and it was a unique opportunity for them to connect through music, stories, magic and general silliness.

“There were smiles all round, and it was lovely to see the children interacting and enjoying some one-on-one time with the clowns.”

The Clown Doctors focus on supporting and empowering children, young people and their families, tailoring activities and putting the individual at the heart of each interaction.

The sessions were supported by EACH volunteer photographer Karen Self, who said: “It was a magical experience and lovely to be part of such an enjoyable event.

“The families clearly had a great time and enjoyed the opportunity to create some very happy memories.”
