Charity shop staff and volunteers rolled back the years during a nostalgic 1940s weekend in North Norfolk.
The annual celebration, which features the music, dancing, fashions and vehicles of the era, took place over three days and was enjoyed by the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) teams in Holt and Sheringham.
Staff and volunteers got in the spirit and looked the part, wearing outfits typical of the decade and selling vintage clothing and memorabilia to raise extra funds.
Holt shop manager Sarah Hipkin Relief and Support Manager Mark Buller secured a pitch at the town’s railway station, setting up a pop-up shop and making a staggering £1,500.
Over in Sheringham, 1940s enthusiasts had the chance to sit for a portrait with talented artist, EACH volunteer and bank worker Paul Watson.
There were also donation buckets so generous customers could show their appreciation.
“This fantastic event has become one of the highlights of our year,” said EACH Retail Manager and North-East Cluster Manager Naomi Munro.
“Everyone has great fun and enjoys the experience but also works incredibly hard, taking advantage of the high footfall to raise extra funds and boost our charity’s profile in the community.
“It wouldn’t be possible without our team of brilliant volunteers, though. The support they gave us once again was amazing.
“It was also a lovely opportunity to meet and serve many new customers.
“Everyone was so friendly and had travelled from all over the country to be part of this unique event.”
The 1940s weekend, celebrating the camaraderie and spirit of the era, took place on 20th, 21st and 22nd September.
