Children enjoyed an adrenaline-filled day of thrills, spills and smiles during a special trip to Norfolk Snowsports Club.
The high-speed fun was organised by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) for children who are either bereaved or have a brother or sister receiving care at The Nook, in Framingham Earl.
They were invited along during their school half-term and enjoyed the chance to whizz down the slope on tubes.
In total, 18 children of various ages took part, and they also enjoyed a craft activity, as well as games of bingo and wink murder.
Three members of staff went on the trip, as well as three volunteers, including photographer Karen Self.
Karen said: “We had a brilliant day. The children had such fun, and it was a joy to see the smiles on their faces.
“Their confidence grew as the morning went on, and it was lovely to see some of them facing their fears.
“To start with, understandably, they were a little reluctant and unsure, but, by the end, they were whizzing down the slope.
“They really looked after each other, and it was a real privilege to be there, taking photos that hopefully captured the fun and atmosphere of the day.”
Clare Oakley, EACH’s Groups and Events Co-ordinator at The Nook, added: “Our sibling days are such an important part of the service we provide, and hopefully the children had a brilliant and memorable day.”
EACH runs sibling days during every school holiday. They allow siblings to come together, have fun and make friends in a safe environment.
