The family of a baby boy who died from a rare brain tumour are taking on a fundraising walk in support of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
Sophie Lang and Matt Foulds, alongside family, friends and colleagues, have signed up for EACH’s Pier 2 Pier Suffolk challenge in September.
The walk will take place just two days before what would have been son Jacob’s second birthday on 14th September. The group has already raised more than £3,500.
Jacob died peacefully in his parents’ arms in August 2025, aged just 11 months.
Supported by EACH’s team at The Treehouse, his family were able to bring him home for his final weeks, where they spent precious time together away from hospital wards and machines.
“It’s important to stress that it’s not just us – we’re a team and we’re being supported by so many people,” said Sophie, who lives near Bury St Edmunds.
“The fact the walk falls two days before what would have been his second birthday seems fitting.
“It’s going to be a very special day, surrounded by people we love.
“It’s also going to be a nice opportunity to meet other people with similar reasons for being there as us.
“Jacob will be walking with us and in our thoughts with every step we take.”
Sophie said EACH played a vital role in allowing them make the most of their time together at home.
“The team allowed us to spend a whole summer together, creating special memories,” she said.
“They held us together and gave us time with Jacob. It made such a difference and there’s nothing I can say or do that could ever quantify what it meant to us.
“They became part of our family, and we’ll be forever grateful.”

EACH’s Pier 2 Pier Suffolk walk is returning for the fourth year.
Sixteen miles in length, it takes participants from Lowestoft Pier to Southwold Pier, following a varied coastal and countryside route across sand, footpaths, fields and rural lanes.
It is open to those aged 16 and over, although under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets cost £35 or £45 with travel and include an EACH technical T-shirt, a marked route, medical support, regular refreshment stops, hot food at the finish and a finisher’s medal. Participants are asked to raise a minimum of £150.
