A popular charity shop is preparing to wave its wand and celebrate five fantastic years with a magical birthday celebration.
Staff and volunteers at the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) store in Royston High Street will be marking the anniversary throughout the week beginning Monday, 13th April.
The highlight will then be a spellbinding visit from magician Harvinii, entertaining customers and performing tricks and illusions on Saturday, 18th April.
Shop manager Terri Rolph said her team were keen to mark the birthday in style.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the support we receive from our community,” she said.
“The kindness of customers, donors and volunteers is something we never take for granted, helping us raise vital funds.
“That’s why we were so keen to do something special and organise a week of activities to thank all those who have helped make these five years truly magical.
“It’s a chance for everyone to join in, and I’m sure there will be lots of smiles and surprises along the way.”
Throughout the week, the shop will be running a tombola and name-the-teddy competition, giving visitors a chance to get involved and help raise funds for EACH.
There will also be lots of sugary treats in the form of homemade cakes and donations from Days Bakery, in Royston.
April also marks Terri’s fifth anniversary with EACH, having started at the charity’s shop in Cherry Hinton Road, Cambridge. She took the reins at Royston in 2023.
“I’m incredibly proud of our shop and the role it plays in the community,” she said.
“It looks fantastic, our shelves are always well-stocked thanks to generous donations and every item sold helps us raise vital funds.
“People sometimes think of charity shops as just places to pick up a bargain, but they’re about more than that. They’re friendly community spaces, giving pre-loved items a second life and helping fund the care and support families rely on.”
