Youngsters were left flying high with excitement after learning about the vital work of a life-saving helicopter.
The special visit to Magpas Air Ambulance was organised by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) for children who are either bereaved or have a brother or sister receiving care at Milton.
Eighteen siblings went along, having the chance to wear kit used by the crew and find out more about the equipment they carry on board.
They used a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) simulator, played games, heard about the history of Magpas and met mascot Bravo.
“The children were fascinated by the helicopter and the crew’s work,” said Ceri Dobson, EACH’s Groups and Events Coordinator at Milton.
“There was so much to see and do, and the room where we were based was right next to the helipad.
“We were fortunate to see the helicopter in action, and it was a brilliant experience that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
“As ever, the children were so well-behaved and bonded right from the start.
“There was a group of boys that got on particularly well, and it was great to see new friendships emerge.
“The children even wanted to sing songs on the coach, which was a lovely touch and showed how comfortable they were with each other.”
Magpas Air Ambulance is a charity based in Huntingdon.
The day started and finished at Milton, where the group travelled by coach courtesy of Dews Coaches. The Cambridge-based company are long-term supporters and provide transport for sibling days completely free of charge.
