Families met one of the world’s most famous racehorses during a private tour of Juddmonte’s Banstead Manor Stud, organised by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
It was for children and families receiving care and support, and 30 people met retired champion racehorse and now stallion Frankel – a visit organised to mark ten years since the legendary thoroughbred became an EACH Ambassador.
Hannah Forbester manages the relationship with Juddmonte as the charity’s Senior Corporate Fundraiser for Cambridge and West Essex.
She said: “It went fantastically well and everyone had a lovely time.
“After being welcomed by the Juddmonte team, we walked to the stallion yard and had a chance to meet one of their oldest stallions, Oasis Dream.
“Then it was time to see Frankel, who was just wonderful and majestic. He’s not used to seeing children now his racecourse days are over but was so friendly and placid.
“Families stepped forward one at a time and had the chance to stroke him and pose for pictures.
“They thought he was beautiful and described it as a very special, unique and unforgettable experience.
“They were also shown his stable and tack room, which is a real behind-the-scenes, unique experience.”
Seven families were represented in total.
Hannah added: “I’m so thankful to the team at Juddmonte, especially Anna and Rachel, who made the event possible, and Jason, Rob and Claire, for their help on the day. It was fantastic to see Rob even sporting an EACH t-shirt.
“They were great and spent time chatting to families, as well as giving everyone a goodie bag at the end. It was a very thoughtful touch.
“We’re grateful for this wonderful relationship and appreciative of everyone who made our visit possible. It was a magical and very memorable experience.”
Anna Alcock, Marketing Manager at Juddmonte, added: “Juddmonte is privileged to raise awareness of the crucial work EACH carries out 365 days a year, supporting affected families, and values the partnership built over the past ten years.
“The team and Frankel thoroughly enjoyed meeting families and Frankel was presented with a beautiful collaborative work of art by the children to commemorate ten years of his ambassadorship, which will be treasured.”
