“At the end of every performance, when Dame Dotty stepped forward and said who we were supporting, there was a cheer of approval. It was such an endorsement for the incredible work EACH does” – panto bucket collections raise £5,500

Kind-hearted pantomime-goers dug deep and helped raise £5,500 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

Bucket collections took place after every performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, at Hunstanton’s Princess Theatre.

The fun-filled panto ran throughout December and the first week of January, leading to a bumper cheque presentation when Directors Brian and Diana Hallard and Marketing Manager Anna Hallard visited The Nook last Thursday.

“It’s an amazing amount of money, and we couldn’t believe it when we totted up the final amount,” said Anna.

“People are incredibly generous, and it was fitting to raise money for a charity supporting children and families.

“It obviously struck a chord with our audiences, especially at such a thought-provoking time of year.

“At the end of every performance, when Dame Dotty stepped forward and said who we were supporting, there was a cheer of approval. It was such an endorsement for the incredible work EACH does.

“Certainly from our point of view, it was a no-brainer, and we’re huge advocates of this amazing charity.”

The 460-seat Princess Theatre is run by Anna’s family, having been on the brink of closure in 2012.

Anna visited The Nook with parents-in-law Brian and Diana, where the trio met EACH Senior Community Fundraiser Ellie Miller.

Ellie said: “It was such a pleasure to meet Anna, Brian, Diana.

“Our sincere thanks go to them and everyone at the theatre, as well as those who so kindly and generously put money in buckets.

“This astonishing amount will make a real difference, in terms of helping us continue our vital work supporting children and families across the region.”
