Supportive members of the public defied strong winds and heavy rain to attend a Christmassy Winter Wonderland at The Nook.
The community event was organised to help raise awareness of the work carried out by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), which provides care and support to children and families across Norfolk.
Although the afternoon was scaled back because of the adverse conditions, more than 250 people defiantly came along, taking the opportunity to browse craft stalls, enjoy festive refreshments and meet Santa Claus. There was also face-painting, a raffle and tombola.
“We were undoubtedly let down by the weather and had to change our plans, moving things inside where possible,” said Ellie Miller, EACH’s Senior Community Fundraiser for Norfolk.
“However, it was still a great success, and our sincere thanks go to everyone who turned out in the wind and rain to support us. We’re so grateful and don’t take that loyalty for granted.
“People got in the spirit, enjoying our craft activities and spending money on our stalls. Hopefully they had a great time.
“As is always the case with these community events, it’s always lovely welcoming people into The Nook.
“It’s a beautiful place, and we’re always very proud to open our doors and tell people more about our vital work.”
Although the event was primarily organised to raise awareness, it still raised nearly £1,500.
There are plans for a public Easter event at The Nook, set to take place on 12th April.
