“Our parking area is so important and requires access 24/7. These improvements will make a huge difference to the day-to-day life of the hospice” – Milestone Infrastructure’s Cambridgeshire team and supply chain partners carry out essential work at Milton

Construction teams have been thanked for the way they “passionately and professionally” completed essential work at a children’s hospice.

Milestone Infrastructure’s Cambridgeshire team and supply chain partners volunteered labour and provided materials to complete the project at Milton.

The site is run by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) – Milestone Infrastructure Cambridgeshire’s chosen charity for 2023/24 – and the collaboration involved teams from Breheny, Aggregate Industries, Burdens Cambridge, Rory Holbrook and Cardinalis Concrete.

They gave their time and materials to enlarge and improve the turning circle outside the hospice.

It means ambulances and larger vehicles can safely and easily navigate the site, providing vital 24/7 access.

“We’re truly grateful to Milestone Infrastructure and its supply chain partners for making these improvements,” said Hannah Forbester, EACH’s Senior Corporate Fundraiser for Cambridge and West Essex.

“The work they’ve done will improve access for the larger vehicles that frequently need to come to our site, which, in the past, has been difficult with the old narrow road and tight turns.

“Our parking area is so important and requires access 24/7. Therefore, these improvements will make a huge difference to the day-to-day life of the hospice.

“We can’t thank everyone enough for taking on this project so passionately and professionally.”

Gohar Hayat, Contracts Director, Civils Projects, Milestone Infrastructure, said his company was proud to play a part in improving the “already excellent” facilities at Milton.

“I’d like to thank our team and supply chain partners who have volunteered their time and expertise and provided materials to make this project happen,” he said.

Chris Frost, Contracts Manager for Breheny, added: “Following on from our charity golf day, in which we raised £12,000 for EACH, we partnered with Milestone Infrastructure to improve the access at Milton.

“This will ensure larger vehicles can navigate the one-way system, which will have a positive impact for the families and individuals it helps.

“We’re pleased to be able to assist a wonderful charity and hope to continue this relationship in the future.”

Colin Witham, Frameworks Manager for Midlands Contracting, Surfacing Solutions, Aggregate Industries, said: “It was a pleasure to be able to help with this community project. By providing the asphalt and working collaboratively with Milestone Infrastructure and other supply chain partners, we were able to help improve vehicular access for this very worthy charity.”
