“We’re keen to spread the word and reach even more people – customers who might be aware of our shop but not necessarily Café ’98” – luxury ice creams are now on the menu at EACH’s popular coffee shop in Hoveton

Hungry customers can cool down and savour delicious ice cream when visiting a popular charity shop café this summer.

The East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) coffee shop in Hoveton/Wroxham is now selling produce made by Norfolk firm Ronaldo.

In addition to orange and strawberry fruit ices, visitors to Café ’98 will also be able to chill out with a tub of chocolate fudge, rum and raisin, strawberry shortcake, vanilla, mint choc chip or salted caramel ice cream. A vegan option is also available.

“We’re delighted to be selling these beautiful luxury ice creams, just in time for the summer holidays,” said manager Naomi Munro.

“It’s a welcome addition to our range of drinks, cakes, bakes and paninis, and we hope customers enjoy the opportunity to pop in and cool down.

“We’re also pleased to have teamed up with another local business and, as an organisation relying heavily on the support and goodwill of our local community, feel strongly about working with suppliers from the area.”

Café ’98 is a first for EACH and part of the charity’s store in Station Road, which opened last December.

The name refers to the year Quidenham Children’s Hospice merged with Milton Children’s Hospice, near Cambridge, to become East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.

“It’s been a fantastic, busy few months,” added Naomi.

“We’ve received lots of positive feedback and have many loyal, regular customers who enjoy spending time with us and supporting EACH.

“Now we’re keen to spread the word and reach even more people – customers who might be aware of our shop but not necessarily Café ’98.

“We recently hit the streets and handed out free samples of our food, which was a fun exercise. It was well-received, to say the least, but some people admitted not knowing about the café.

“That’s definitely something we hope to change, by spreading the word and shouting from the rooftops about what we have to offer.”

Both the shop and café are open seven days a week.

EACH relies on voluntary donations for the majority of its income. This year alone, it needs to raise £8 million from donations and fundraising activities and £9.8 million in retail income. Only 15% of its income comes from the government, county councils and the NHS.
