“Just donating the art and craft supplies would have been a lovely gesture, but for the staff to come in, give their time and get creative was incredibly kind” – EACH hospices are given an Easter makeover thanks to Hobbycraft

Two children’s hospices are awash with Easter joy and colour thanks to generous donations from Hobbycraft.

Staff from the crafting superstore gave their time to decorate the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) bases in Norfolk and Suffolk.

They brought an array of goodies, donated by the company as part of its relationship with leading children’s palliative care charity Together for Short Lives.

It means both hospices – The Nook, near Norwich, and The Treehouse, in Ipswich – are now resplendent with bright, beautiful and eye-catching Easter decorations.

Caroline Allen, EACH’s Corporate Fundraising Manager, said: “Our care floors look magnificent and we’re truly grateful to everyone at Hobbycraft.

“Just donating the art and craft supplies would have been a lovely gesture, but for the staff to come in, give their time and get creative was incredibly kind.

“They were full of ideas and have given our hospices an amazing Easter makeover.

“They will give lots of pleasure and positivity to the children, young people and families receiving our care and support.”

Together for Short Lives supports the UK’s 54 children’s hospices, including EACH.

Chief Executive Andy Fletcher was joined by members of Hobbycraft’s leadership team for a mammoth walk across Norfolk and Suffolk, last September.

Setting off in Thetford, the trekkers, known as the ‘Magnificent Seven’, completed the Angles Way walk, finishing in Great Yarmouth.

Daniel Mortimer, manager of the Hobbycraft store in Norwich, said: “We wanted to give back to the teams at EACH, and the children and families they support, by donating hampers and providing a Spring makeover for The Nook and The Treehouse.

“We’re proud that our colleagues were able to donate their time, creativity and Easter gifts to help families make precious memories and thrilled to be able to support our local children’s hospices in this way.”
