Staff from a popular charity shop joined forces with Colchester’s Armed Forces community to spread the word about East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
Julie Herlihy and Kellie Brown, from the charity’s Angora Park shop, in Stanway, flew the flag for EACH at a special event organised by shop volunteer Arianne Martin, who also works for Amey Defence Services.
The aim was to showcase the wide range of support, volunteering opportunities and community services available to serving personnel, veterans and their families.
Julie and Kellie attended with an information stall promoting the charity and their shop, highlighting opportunities to get involved through volunteering and community engagement.
Throughout the evening, they had the opportunity to meet and speak with numerous members of the Armed Forces community.
The event brought together a variety of military and civilian charities, all committed to supporting members of the Armed Forces and veteran communities. Attendees were also treated to a performance by the Wimbish and Colchester Military Wives Choir.
Sales Supervisor Kellie said: “It was a pleasure to attend such a positive community event and meet so many members of the Armed Forces family.
“The evening provided a valuable opportunity to share information about our charity and volunteering opportunities, while also learning more about the fantastic support services available locally.
“We were delighted to be able to show our support for the local Armed Forces community.”
