“William benefitted greatly from EACH’s care while suffering from an incurable brain tumour. This goes a small way to keeping his memory alive” – Jack and Amelia have organised another of their popular Christmas quizzes

Family and friends are being encouraged to get their thinking caps on for a popular Christmas quiz raising vital funds for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The festive fun is being organised by husband and wife Jack Hedley and Amelia Reynolds, who have raised nearly £10,000 since their first quiz in 2020.

It can be printed off and used at any family or group get-together, in exchange for a donation to EACH.

Topics to test the grey matter include general knowledge, trivia, music and food and drink, in addition to a picture round.

This year alone, Jack and Amelia are already closing in on £800. Within a couple of hours, their total was nearly £250.

“Our quizzes have grown and grown, and lots of people tell us it’s become a tradition in their household, which is lovely,” said Jack, from Colchester.

“I start receiving emails from people even before I’ve sent it out, checking we’re doing it again.

“It’s so rewarding to raise money for such an incredible charity, while also giving something – a couple of hours of family entertainment – in return for a donation.

“I love it and start compiling questions throughout the year. If I hear or think of something I think would be good, I make a note on my phone.”

Jack, 71, has been writing quizzes for more than 20 years.

Family and friends always asked for print-outs, and it was suggested he should sell copies to raise funds for charity.

He chose EACH because he and Amelia, 55, have a personal connection. Their friend’s teenage son, William Leonard, received care and died in August 2022.

“It’s an incredible charity providing a range of services for children and their families,” said Jack.

“Government funding is a measly 15%, so fundraising is crucial.

“William benefitted greatly from EACH’s care while suffering from an incurable brain tumour. This quiz goes a small way to keeping his memory alive.”

While Jack compiles the quiz, Amelia organises the fundraising side of things and manages their JustGiving page.

To get a copy, head here. Alternatively, log into JustGiving.com, type Amelia Reynolds 2024 in the search bar, and you will see this year’s fundraising page. The suggested minimum donation is £5.

“Once we see your name on JustGiving – please put your full name – we’ll email you the quiz pack, including instructions,” added Jack.

“It may also be best to drop me a quick email (jack.hedley@yahoo.com) to ensure we don’t miss you.”
