Mums and carers came together for an evening of connection and creativity after being shown how to make beautiful Christmas wreaths.
The Women Together event was hosted by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) and took place at The Nook.
Nine woman and non-binary parents and carers took part, being guided by Hempnall florist Helen Manning.
The workshop gave them an opportunity to relax, unwind and enjoy time with others who have a child receiving care.
Using fresh foliage, ribbons and seasonal decorations, the comforting scent of pine filled the room as they created wreaths to take away and display at home.
“Mums and carers spend so much of their time focused on the care of their child,” said Clare Oakley, EACH’s Groups and Events Co-ordinator at The Nook.
“This evening gave them a chance to step away from the pressures of everyday life and enjoy something for themselves.
“It was also an opportunity to build friendships and strengthen the support networks that are so vital throughout their journey.
“There was such a calm, relaxed atmosphere, and people told us how much they enjoyed the opportunity to unwind and do something for themselves.”
Clare said she was grateful to Helen, who is returning for another wreath-making session during a coffee morning for bereaved parents later in December.
The workshop took place on Thursday, 20th November.
