Young fundraisers smashed a magic milestone after completing their latest Santa Run for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
Great Yarmouth Charter Academy students have been donning festive outfits and tackling the seafront challenge every year since 2014.
In return for a donation, they wear Christmassy jumpers and hats and run just over a mile and a half along the North Denes beach.
They sprang into action just before Christmas and raised £2,081 – taking their overall total beyond £20,000.
PE Curriculum Lead Paul Andrews said: “We’re so pleased to reach this milestone, and it’s testament to the hard work and support of all students, staff and parents.
“There were some very generous donations, and every year it makes me proud to be part of such an excellent team.”
The Santa Run is organised by the school’s PE department and December’s event featured around 700 youngsters from Years Seven to Ten.
Senior Community Fundraiser Ellie Miller recently visited the school to collect a cheque on behalf of EACH.
She said: “What a magnificent achievement.
“The students and staff have been fantastic supporters over a number of years, and we’re so grateful for their continued support.
“I hope they feel rightly proud of themselves, because we’re very proud of them.
“These vital funds will continue to make a huge difference to the children and families receiving our care and support, and we’re sincerely grateful.”
