Volunteering

Without the fantastic support we receive from our volunteers we simply wouldn’t be able to provide support to families and care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions.

No matter what you do, you’ll be playing a vital part in helping us achieve this. We also hope you’ll get lots out of your volunteering too; hands-on experience, learn new skills, meet new people, gain confidence and, most importantly, have fun!

Family volunteers

Our Help at Home volunteer service links a caring individual to a family so they can provide practical support in the family’s home, allowing families more time with each other.

What is Help at Home volunteering?

Help at Home volunteers provide vital practical support in the homes of families caring for children with life-threatening conditions. Hear from one of our Help at Home Volunteer Coordinator's and from the volunteers themselves!

Peter And Anne Herring

They’re a great bunch to work alongside and it’s something that gives us a great deal of satisfaction. It just feels right. It’s such a worthy cause and we feel very committed to helping in any way we can. We’ve loved every minute and would recommend it to anyone looking to volunteer for a special cause.

I volunteer because I know the tremendous difference EACH make to families at the most challenging time of their lives. Just one child’s smile or a parent's thank you makes such a difference and is worth more than any salary I could or did earn. We can’t make the children better or even understand what families are going through. However, we can travel part of the journey alongside them and do whatever we can to help

Rosie Hull And Don Brown

It’s something we both enjoy and we’re happy to do anything that helps, from organising bucket collections to helping at specific events. For us, it’s very satisfying and a rewarding thing to do. We’re both retired and always said when we were working that it would be nice to do some kind of volunteering

It’s a great team at the shop – they are so supportive and my confidence has really grown since I started there.

I enjoy the environment, the company, we’ve got a lovely manager and it’s a nice atmosphere, plus it’s for a good cause. I’ve also learnt new skills and it’s good to keep the brain ticking over.
