“Donations are the lifeblood of charity retail, and every bag donated helps us raise funds, reduce waste and make affordable goods available to our community” – generous donors are being rewarded with an in-store voucher

A much-loved charity shop is launching a new donation drive to boost community support and help raise vital funds.

The East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) store in Castle Street, Norwich, is running its Spring Clear-out Challenge throughout February.

Donors are being encouraged to bring in more of their pre-loved items, and, for every ten bags donated, they will be given a 20% discount voucher to spend instore. Bags can be dropped off throughout the month, rather than in one go.

The initiative aims to boost stock levels while also encouraging extra footfall in the shop, which opened last August.

“Donations are the lifeblood of charity retail, and every bag donated helps us raise funds, reduce waste and make affordable goods available to our community,” said Deputy Shop Manager Tegen Jones.

“We rely heavily on regular, good-quality donations to keep our shelves stocked and doors open.

“Ten bags might seem like a simple clear-out at home, but, for us, it can translate into hundreds of pounds – income that directly supports our vital work.

“It also promotes reuse and sustainability, and it’s our way of saying thank you, as donors get to enjoy a little treat for themselves with the voucher.”

The donation campaign runs throughout February, with donors being able to stamp a loyalty card every time they bring in a bag.

They are welcome to donate clothing, shoes, handbags, accessories, cosmetics (sealed and unused), books, bric-a-brac, toys, jigsaws, electrical items, furniture, sports equipment and any other items in good condition.

“We’ve been open for nearly half a year now, and things are going extremely well,” added Tegen.

“We appreciate parking can be tricky here, though, which makes it tricky for people to pop in with their donations.

“That’s what gave us the idea for this campaign, and we look forward to welcoming lots of customers and donors in the coming weeks – collectively helping to ensure our amazing shop continues to thrive.”
