“It was wonderful to see so much joy, laughter and connection. Seeing children’s faces light up and parents relax is a priceless feeling” – families come together for a day of fun, creativity and surprises at The Nook

Families explored an Easter trail, stroked animals and took part in seasonal art and craft activities during a fun-filled Easter celebration at The Nook.

The day also included facepainting provided by volunteers from Center Parcs, playful antics and gentle humour with two Clown Doctors and entertainment from Geoff Sharkey, of Musical Keys.

Eighty-four children and family members came along for a day of smiles, laughter and Easter magic, also having the chance to tuck into a mouthwatering indoor barbecue.

“Days like this are all about giving families the chance to spend quality time together and enjoy special moments,” said Clare Oakley, EACH’s Groups and Events Co-ordinator at The Nook.

“It was wonderful to see so much joy, laughter and connection, whether enjoying the trail, meeting the animals or just sitting down and relaxing together.

“These events remind us why we do what we do – helping families share smiles and hopefully create happy, lasting memories. Seeing children’s faces light up and parents relax is a priceless feeling.”

One of the highlights of the day was a popular Easter trail, which saw children setting off on an adventure around the Rest and Reflect Garden.

The clues and answer sheet were also available in braille, making it fully inclusive, and the prizes were either a chocolate egg or a bubble wand.

Adding to the excitement was a visit from Cherry Tree Petting Farm, where children had the chance to meet and interact with a range of friendly animals including goats and rabbits.

Creative youngsters got stuck into arts and crafts, decorating eggs, colouring and making suncatchers, while also having the opportunity to touch and play with various sensory items.

There were also games including ‘pin the tail on the bunny’ and a competition to guess the weight of a Thumper soft toy, from Bambi.

Clare said she was grateful to the team of wellbeing volunteers who helped on the day. She was also supported by The Nook’s Matron, Cheryl Norman, Play Specialist Heidi Foster, Nurse Emma Reeve and Care Assistant Tanya Dunnett.
