Families are being invited to get in the Christmas spirit during a magical two-day fayre raising funds for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
The festive extravaganza will feature a bustling market, entertainment from choirs, schools and community groups, traditional food and drink and the chance to visit Santa’s grotto.
It is taking place at Ipswich Town Hall, Corn Exchange and Cornhill on 21st and 22nd November, with visitors having the chance to donate and take part in special craft activities to show their support for EACH.
“Whether shopping for unique, handmade gifts and festive decorations, bringing the family to meet Santa or simply soaking up the atmosphere, it promises to be a very special Christmas celebration,” said Ali Butler, EACH’s Senior Community Fundraiser for Suffolk and East Essex.
“We’ll be running a stall and doing bucket collections throughout, and it’s a golden opportunity to raise awareness of our vital work caring for children and supporting families across Suffolk and the rest of East Anglia.
“We look forward to having lots of positive conversations and are so grateful for the opportunity presented to us by Ipswich Borough Council.
“It’s a much-appreciated partnership, which also includes the chance to raise funds and awareness at the tree festival at Ipswich Minster Church (28th November to 7th December).
“We’re very much looking forward to being involved and working together at both events.”
The fayre is taking place from 2pm until 7pm on the 21st and 10am until 5pm on the 22nd, with festivities being officially opened by the Mayor of Ipswich, Councillor Stefan Long.
Cllr Long visited The Treehouse – EACH’s base in Ipswich – in June, having nominated the charity as a chosen beneficiary of his Mayoral year.
He was given a tour of the hospice, where he saw the five bedrooms and family accommodation, along with its sensory room, hydrotherapy pool, music therapy studio and play areas. He also took a stroll through the sensory garden.
Cllr Long said: “I’m looking forward to opening this first-ever Ipswich Town Hall Christmas Fayre and proud to support EACH, as a chosen charity for my Mayoral year.
“EACH does incredible work for children and families across the region, and this event is a wonderful way for our community to come together, celebrate the festive season and make a real difference.
“I encourage everyone to visit, enjoy the Christmas Market and live entertainment and spread some festive cheer right in the heart of Ipswich – helping us raise vital funds for this fantastic cause.”
Tickets for the fayre cost £2 per adult, per day, with children aged 14 and under being free. They can be pre-booked for both the Saturday and Sunday by clicking these links and heading to the EACH website.
