Bereaved families remembered their loved ones while enjoying each other’s company and tucking into a delicious barbecue.
The poignant event was organised by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) and took place at The Nook.
Fifty-four family members came along, including siblings, who had the chance to play garden games, make suncatcher windchimes and decorate shells.
“It was a beautiful evening, and thankfully the weather was kind to us,” said Clare Oakley, EACH’s Groups and Events Co-ordinator.
“Everyone sat outside, and, although people stayed in their family units at the start, it was lovely to see them relax and engage with others as the evening went on.
“Everyone was there for the same reason, and it was powerful to see families mixing together and meeting others in the same situation.”
Youngsters used the hospice’s playground, and families enjoyed mouthwatering food prepared by Lisa Joy, Odette Cousins and Cheryl Marsh, from The Nook’s facilities team, supported by volunteer Karen Keen.
“They really were the dream team and played a vital role on the night,” added Clare.
“The food was delicious, and it really struck me how much love, care and hard work goes on behind the scenes to make an event of this nature possible. They were brilliant, and I’m so thankful.”
