“It’s amazing what a difference such a small amount makes and staggering to think the total equates to 34,256 individual 25p donations” – EACH’s Let’s Drum Up Funds campaign raises an impressive £8,564

Kind customers at charity shops across the region have raised more than £8,500 to fund music therapy sessions at East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

A six-week retail donation campaign called ‘Let’s Drum Up Funds’ was rolled out across EACH’s 53 shops on 9th June, giving shoppers the option to donate an extra 25p.

Generous customers dug deep, and the final total was an impressive £8,564.

A ‘thank you’ message is currently appearing on customer display screens within all the charity’s shops.

“Once again, customers have come up trumps and shown outstanding support for our latest donation campaign,” said Genine Woodcock, EACH’s Retail Central Support Manager.

“We’re so grateful, and our sincere thanks go to every single person who got behind us and made this initiative such a success.

“It’s staggering to think the total equates to 34,256 individual 25p donations.

“It’s amazing what a difference such a small amount makes, adding up to a great total, and some of the individual shop figures make very impressive reading. We couldn’t be more thankful.”

EACH’s retail operation is split into three geographical areas spanning East Anglia – the North-East, the North-West and the South.

Shops in the North-East raised £3,042, the North-West £3,161 and the South £2,362.

Music therapy helps children and family members express themselves in a non-judgemental space, where sounds and music-making are the primary form of communication. There are therapeutic aims, which can also include working towards a child’s developmental goals in a fun, musical way.

EACH has dedicated music therapists at each of its hospices – at Milton, near Cambridge, The Nook, near Norwich, and The Treehouse, in Ipswich.

They use music to reach out and support both children and adult family members, individually and within groups. To find out more, head here.
