“There are some wonderful creations, and we love seeing everyone’s faces when they walk in and see the magic and sparkle” – EACH is represented at an eye-catching Christmas tree festival in Norfolk

A stunning Christmas tree representing East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) is one of more than 100 currently illuminating an eye-catching Breckland church.

The dazzling festival is taking place in East Harling, with every tree representing either an individual, charity, club, business, school or community group in the area.

EACH’s tree is one of the many on display and although entry is free, all donations cover costs and go towards the upkeep of St Peter and St Paul Church.

It was decorated by EACH volunteer Jennifer Bell, who volunteers at the charity’s Diss and Thetford shops and is part of its Help at Home service.

“This has become a big community event that brings people together and puts smiles on faces,” said Susan Wilson, who organises the event with Dorothy Jubb.

“Anyone can advertise their respective charity or business, but any money donated goes towards two very big projects at our church – namely fixing its leaky roof and improving access to our north churchyard.”

The festival, now in its fourth year, was first introduced to cheer people up and bring the community together in the wake of Covid.

“This year, we’re delighted to have well over 100 trees on display,” added Susan.

“There are some wonderful creations, as well as more traditional trees, and we love seeing everyone’s faces when they walk in and see the magic and sparkle. It makes the hard work worthwhile.”

The Bishop of Thetford officially opened the festival last Friday and the church was also open on Saturday and Sunday.

After a three-day hiatus, the festival returns this Thursday (4pm until 7pm), Friday (4pm until 8pm), Saturday (3pm until 7pm) and Sunday (4pm until 5.30pm).
