Golfers clubbed together for a special fundraiser to show their support for two leading charities.
The Havocs Memorial Day was held at Hintlesham Golf Club and raised £3,308, which has been divided between East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) and Prostate Cancer UK.
Sixty eager participants had coffee together before 18 holes of team and individual Stableford golf.
They then enjoyed lunch and a prize-giving, followed by a raffle and auction. Every penny raised was added to the fundraising pot.
“Havocs is a group of nearly 100 like-minded golfers who play at Hintlesham Golf Club on alternate Tuesdays,” said organiser Richard Hope.
“Two years ago, our main organiser, Ian Alcock, sadly died and we decided to hold an annual memorial golf day – not just to remember Ian but also the past members no longer granted the privilege of playing.
“Last year, we held our first one in aid of St Elizabeth Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support, which were two charities close to Ian’s heart.
“With help from local golf clubs, Greene King and members, we raised an amazing £2,100.
“This year, we raised money for EACH and Prostate Cancer UK, which raised a staggering £3,308.”
It means EACH received £1,654 and a cheque was presented to Community Fundraiser Anne Austin.
Anne said: “It’s an incredible amount of money and our sincere thanks go to Richard and everyone involved with the Havocs group.
“It was lovely to meet everyone and I’m so pleased they had such a successful and memorable day, while at the same time showing their support for two important charities.
“Donations like this make such a difference in terms of helping us continue our vital work, caring for children and supporting families across East Anglia.”
The golf day took place on 20th August.
