Customers are being invited to get in the party spirit and help a popular charity shop celebrate its first birthday.
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) moved into its new, bigger premises in Felixstowe on 20th June 2024.
A mum whose daughter receives care at The Treehouse, in Ipswich, cut the ribbon as EACH set up base in the town’s former NatWest bank, on the corner of Hamilton Road and York Road. It had previously traded in a smaller shop across the road.
Twelve months on, manager Haze Selby-Dee is preparing to celebrate, and customers are invited to join staff and volunteers for cake and fizz, as well as enjoying a tombola, raffle and games, between 9am and 5pm on Friday.
“There will also be promotions, discounts and bargains galore, and we’re very excited to be celebrating this special anniversary,” said Haze.
“It doesn’t seem five minutes since we were preparing to move across the road into our wonderful new home.
“Now, in the blink of an eye, a whole year has passed, and we continue to go from strength to strength, raising more than ever for the amazing charity we support.
“We’ve had phenomenal feedback from customers, volunteers and donors, and we’re so thankful to our community for the incredible support they’ve shown.
“One of my favourite things is being on the shop floor when new customers come in. They always look impressed and sometimes even say ‘wow’ when they walk through the door. It makes me very proud.”
Haze has been busy preparing special goodie bags for customers who spend £15 or more during Friday’s celebrations.
“Customers old and new are welcome to pop in and help us celebrate our success,” added Haze.
“There will be lots of fun and games to keep everyone entertained. All we ask is they bring some spending money!”
Before moving into its new home last year, EACH had been trading in Hamilton Road since November 2012.
In addition to Felixstowe, EACH has more Suffolk shops in Beccles, Bungay, Bury St Edmunds, Framlingham, Hadleigh, Halesworth, Ipswich (Meredith Road and Felixstowe Road), Leiston, Lowestoft, Saxmundham, Southwold, Sudbury and Woodbridge. Another, in Stowmarket, is due to open on Thursday (19th June).
Haze is always keen to hear from anyone interested in joining her team of volunteers. Extra help is always needed, and new recruits are welcome.
