Would-be volunteers are being encouraged to step forward and become the beating heart of a popular East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) shop in Swaffham.
The team is in urgent need of extra support, and a special fortnight-long recruitment campaign is now underway.
Manager Maria Wakeman says even offering a few hours a week can make a tangible difference, helping spread the load and raise vital funds.
“We’re always looking for more people to join our fantastic team,” she said.
“It’s a wonderful way to give something back, meet new people and be part of something truly special.
“We can offer flexible opportunities to suit different interests and schedules, and volunteering is rewarding, enjoyable and a fantastic way to support a great cause.
“Every pound we raise makes a difference, but we couldn’t do it without our volunteers.
“They’re at the heart of everything we do, so if you’ve ever thought about lending a hand, I’d encourage you to take that first step.
“You’ll be joining a friendly, dedicated team and helping create a lasting impact for local families.”
EACH’s shop in Market Place is one of 58 across the region, including 23 in Norfolk.
Maria took the reins as manager in 2023 and describes volunteers as the “lifeblood” of EACH.
“One of the things I love most about managing this shop is seeing the sense of community our volunteers create,” she said.
“They bring energy, kindness and enthusiasm every single day, and we’re keen to welcome more people into the team.
“Regardless of their role, the staff and volunteers here are like a family because everyone does what they do out of love for the charity.
“Every item sorted, customer served and donation processed helps raise vital funds for children and families receiving care from EACH.”
