“The aim is to help combat social isolation, anxiety and depression, getting people out of the house and meeting others” – EACH café proves a perfect meeting place for coffee mornings organised by Talking Therapies

A café run by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) has been described as the “perfect setting” for meetings aimed at combating social isolation, anxiety and depression in North Norfolk.

The gatherings are being held on the second Thursday of every month at EACH’s Hoveton coffee shop, in Station Road.

Run by NHS Norfolk and Waveney’s Talking Therapies service, they are for anyone aged 16 or over and take place between 11.30am and 1pm.

Anyone interested in popping in for a coffee and a chat, to meet like-minded people, is welcome along. The first meeting took place on 10th April.

“We’re delighted to be up and running and think we’ve found the perfect meeting place,” said NHS Norfolk and Waveney’s Community Development Co-ordinator, Alix Gallagher.

“In the past, we’ve held our socials in bigger, busier cafes, but they can be a bit intimidating for people more used to quieter spaces.

“However, this is perfect, and we’re more than happy to help and support such an important local charity.

“Hopefully, as word spreads, more and more people will come along to our meetings. They’re very informal, and there’s no need to book.

“The aim is to help combat social isolation, anxiety and depression, getting people out of the house and meeting others.

“It’s great for mental health and wellbeing, and people from all walks of life tend to come along.

“Everyone has a fascinating story to tell, and, from my own point of view, I find our meetings so uplifting. I always come away in a better frame of mind.”

EACH’s Hoveton shop and cafe opened in December.

Manager Naomi Munro said: “We’re delighted our café has been chosen as a meeting point for the Talking Therapies socials.

“It’s an amazing service that works so hard to support people in our community.

“We look forward to offering a warm welcome and hope those that come along enjoy spending time with us.”
