Dads and male-identifying carers had the chance to relax, connect and unwind during an evening of gaming organised by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
The fun-packed session featured console stations and retro arcade favourites, on board a converted minibus provided by Streetside Gaming.
Four dads and carers came along, and the event took place at The Treehouse on 11th October.
EACH Play Specialist Hailey Allen said: “It was great to see them connecting and talking about their experiences.
“Events like this are about creating space for dads and male carers to come together, have fun and support each other in a relaxed, informal setting.
“They shared what the hospice means to them and the challenges of having a child with complex needs, as well as giving advice and information about house adaptations and mobility vehicles. It was a powerful thing to be part of.”
In addition to gaming, the dads and carers were able to tuck into delicious pizza provided by the hospice’s catering team.
Dads and male-identifying carers enjoyed an evening of non-alcoholic beer and cider tasting at The Treehouse in April, having the chance to sample five specifically selected local or unusual products.
Then, in June, they learnt new skills and got creative after being joined by members of Ipswich Wildlife Group.
They had the chance to make bird boxes and hedgehog houses to put in their gardens, being able to sit back and enjoy a tasty barbecue together.
