“Having the opportunity to see where our money goes resonated with us all and fuelled our determination to raise even more” – Crown Commercial Service and Cabinet Office colleagues hand over a cheque for more than £850

Kind-hearted colleagues have rallied together and shown their support for a leading children’s charity – collectively raising nearly £2,000.

The team from Crown Commercial Service and Cabinet Office, based in Norwich, picked East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) as one of its dedicated partners and presented a cheque for £852.85 to Senior Corporate Fundraiser Laura Southcott, which brought the total raised to £1,852.

It was for money raised in the last two years and, following another vote among staff, they have chosen to keep supporting EACH throughout 2024 and 2025.

“We’re very pleased to be continuing our fundraising for such an incredible charity,” said Inclusion and Diversity Manager Lisa Church.

“We’ve forged a real connection and having such a close connection with Laura has given us an opportunity to understand more about EACH’s work.

“We’re proud to have raised so much and hopefully we can make even more during the next two years.

“Much of the money has been raised from our lottery consortium, whereby colleagues get entered into the main draw but also donate a percentage to charity.

“We’ve also organised lots of individual fundraisers, including fun and games at our summer and Halloween Fairs, three quiz and chips nights, cake sales and Christmas and King’s Coronation parties.

“It’s great fun and brings everyone together, allowing us to socialise but with the common goal of raising funds.”

The team, who have also given their time as corporate volunteers, recently joined forces to donate more than 90 bags of donations to EACH’s Retail team.

Their haul of goodies will generate funds by being sold in the charity’s shops, of which there are 19 across Norfolk.

Crown Commercial Service and Cabinet Office colleagues were also given a tour of The Nook – EACH’s hospice in Framingham Earl.

Commercial Analyst Emma Robinson said: “As a mum myself, it was very close to home but I found it an amazing, inspiring and thought-provoking experience.

“People immediately think about end-of-life situations but it’s actually a beautiful, peaceful and positive environment.

“Having the opportunity to see where our money goes resonated with us all and fuelled our determination to raise even more.”

In addition to EACH, Crown Commercial Service and Cabinet Office colleagues have been raising funds for Leeway domestic violence and abuse charity across Norfolk and Suffolk and, more recently, Norwich’s Priscilla Bacon Lodge.
