Recycled metal has generated a £1,500 donation to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
The money was raised thanks to a scheme at Westerleigh Group’s Cromer Crematorium.
With the consent of families, metals recovered during the cremation process are recycled and any money raised is used to support charities, local activities and environmental initiatives which will benefit the communities they serve.
EACH was one of the chosen beneficiaries, along with Nelson’s Journey, Little Lifts and the Hillside Animal Sanctuary.
Site Manager Rodney Clark-Ward said: “It’s our pleasure to make this donation and continue our long-term commitment to EACH.
“We’re pleased and proud to be in a position to help.
“EACH is a charity close to my heart and one we’ll always support, for as long as I’m working here.
“It does a wonderful job, making the lives of children and young people as happy and comfortable as possible.
“However, it’s also about the support the whole family receives.
“If this money helps make their lives that little bit better, we couldn’t be happier.”
Cromer Crematorium is one of 40 run by Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent crematoria owners and operators.
“The recyclable metals typically include items like coffin nails and medical implants,” added Rodney.
“The recycling scheme gives us a wonderful opportunity to support some great causes in our communities.”
Rodney presented the cheque to EACH Senior Corporate Fundraiser Laura Southcott.
“We’re so grateful to Rodney and the team at Cromer Crematorium,” she said.
“They’re amazing, consistent supporters and this was the third year running they have made a donation.
“The fact they’ve vowed to continue supporting us in the future is fantastic.”
