A fashion show featuring bright, colourful clothing is set to take guests back to the swinging sixties while raising funds for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
The event is being organised by staff and volunteers from the charity’s Wymondham shop and taking place at the Town Green Centre on Friday, 4th July.
It will showcase clothing and accessories from the hippie period and tickets cost £8. They can either be bought on the night or in advance by calling into the shop.
“Hopefully it’s going to be a great night, and we’re all very excited,” said Wymondham shop manager Kim Jewell.
“A lot of hard work and preparation has gone into this, and I’m grateful to my amazing team of volunteers for getting in the spirit and being so enthusiastic.
“They’ve been squirreling away suitable items of clothing, and some of them are going to be among our models on the night.
“We wouldn’t be able to contemplate something like this without their support, and I’m very grateful.
“First and foremost, we hope people like the clothes and want to buy some of the items they see.
“However, it’s also great to be organising a community event like this and helping raise awareness both of our shop and EACH generally. That’s very important to us.”
The evening gets underway at 6.30pm, with the fashion show beginning at 7pm.
Models will be strutting their stuff on the catwalk and Kim will be hosting the evening, giving information on the various items. To help build the mood, there will be music from the 60s and 70s.
In addition to the fashion show, there will also be a mini shop for visitors to browse, as well as a raffle and refreshments.
“Clothes from this period are very in vogue and going to be a big thing this summer,” said sales supervisor Tegen Jones.
“It’s all about bright colours and things being flowing and comfortable.
“We’re so excited as it’s the first time we’ve done something like this.
“It’s also a nice opportunity for the volunteers to show off what they do, because I know how strongly they feel about this. They’re as passionate as we are.
“We’re also getting a lot of help from the community – students, actors, models, makeup and hair artists – so are excited to let their talent shine.”
